Sesame Street Live!: Make a New Friend
Join Elmo, Big Bird and newcomers like Abby Cadabby welcome Grover’s new friend from India, Chamki. This year’s show celebrates different cultures and forming new friendships. In celebration of MLK, Jr. day, this free poetry night includes music and activism as well. Poets from New York City, California, Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh will be on hand for the event, hosted by Mahogany Browne with DJ Jive Poetic at the August Wilson Center. Bottoms Up! Yoga and Beer
Northside Yoga and Allegheny City Brewing are teaming up for this flow session that ends with craft beers. The event takes place at Allegheny City Brewing and everyone that participates gets two tasters and one pint of beer. There will be a food truck at ACB for some delicious food to go with the beer. One-Man Star Wars Trilogy
Charles Ross performs his one-man play at the Byham Theater at 7 p.m. Ross manages to perform all of the beloved movie characters and sing the score. EEBC Beer Belly Yoga
East End Brewing Company is offering a 45-minute yoga class in the taproom taught by a teacher from I am Yoga. The class, limited to 40 students only, gives guests a free 13 oz. The Morgantown native and American hip-hop artist heads to the Rex Theater on E. Carson St. along with Palermo Stone and DJ Spillz, Tristin Dare and Mazur Gang. Let Freedom Sing
The 10th annual event celebration the MLK holiday features Vanessa German and the Heritage Gospel Chorale, along with choirs from Pittsburgh’s High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA), The Lemington Chorale, McKeesport Area High School and others. East Liberty Celebrates MLK Day
The East Liberty neighborhood celebrates MLK Day Monday afternoon, with activities beginning at 12 and performances starting at 2 p.m. Dubbed as a platform to come together, this year’s theme is “Together, We Build Community.” The event takes place at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater.
