The Most Romantic Dates in Pittsburgh

Oh yes, Pittsburghers—our city can be quite amorous! In honor of Valentine’s Day, we’re here to bring you a tongue-in-cheek look at the most romantic dates in Pittsburgh, both old and new. We hope you can reminisce, laugh and get some inspiration from this list!

  • Sneaking a kiss in the Old Mill – For many Pittsburghers, their first kiss was in the darkened boat ride. Guess what? Kennywood may bring it back and there is currently a petition with over 200 signatures to change Garfield’s Nightmare back to the nostalgic ride.

  • Overlooking Mt. Washington – What Pittsburgher hasn’t gone on a date to the scenic overlook on “Mount Warshington?” Half of those who went up on the incline to the observation deck on dates as teens were proposed to in the very same place.

  • Schenley Park Skating Rink for Valentine’s On IceThis one’s romantic for the value (Pittsburghers love a good deal, right?). Five dollars per couple gets a rose and chocolates to the first 200 couples, a chance at a puck shooting contest, salsa lessons and a keepsake photo.

  • The National Aviary – Nothing will get your heart a-flutter (see what I did there?) than the nation’s premiere bird museum.

  • Stroll through the Strip District – It has the word “strip” in it. That alone should get you going! Also, nothing says love like taking a walk hand in hand through Wholey’s with the smell of fish in the air, right?

  • Dinner over Hofbrauhaus beer steins and sauerkraut balls and fried pickles – Just make sure to grab a mint before you go in for the after-dinner kiss.

  • A night on the Gateway Clipper – Enjoy dinner and dancing, but will you have the courage to head to the observation deck and brave Pittsburgh in February? At least it’s an excuse to snuggle up to your honey.

  • Sharing an “O” hot dog – You haven’t lived until you’ve shared an O hot dog Lady in the Tramp style after a long night of drinking in Oakland.

  • Galentine’s Day at the Heinz History Center – If you don’t have a significant other, The Heinz History Center is doing up Valentine’s Day Parks and Recreation style with a Galentine’s Day yoga class. Stay for prosecco and warm chocolate chip cookies after.
