We were inspired by the success of previous Pittsburghese posts so we decided to create the ultimate Pittsburghese collection from A to Z. Here is part three, E and F.



1. Erol (noun)

East Ohio Street, as in the street in Pittsburgh.




5. Erboto Clemenny (person)

pittsburghese

The iconic Pittsburgh Pirate who has a bridge named after him in Pittsburgh.




6. Fer (preposition)

pittsburghese

For, like “The Steelers are gonna go fer it all this year!”




7. Fahr (noun)

pittsburghese

Fire, as in “There’s a fahr in the neighborhood, be careful!”

8. Fillings (noun)

pittsburghese

Feelings, like “Mom, Sally really hurt my fillings!”




9. Fig-gurd (verb)

Pittsburghese

Figured, as in “I fig-gurd as much!”




10. Filthadelphia (place)

pittsburghese

The nickname for Philadelphia that some Pittsburghers use.
