1. The Friendship Street Ambassadors Project

The Friendship Street Ambassadors Project inspires and creates relationships among the neighbors of the Friendship community. Their wish is to create a “resilient, sustainable and resourceful community.” The street ambassador gets to know and connect with neighbors on their street or block, promoting neighborhood engagement as a whole.

2. The Friendship House and Architecture Tour

Fascinated with the gorgeous homes in the neighborhood? You’ll love this annual tour celebrating the unique architectural homes of Friendship. The event is sponsored by UPMC and Diggins Builders.

3. Commonplace Coffee Co.

This coffee company has a Friendship location that doesn’t disappoint. The coffeehouse that began in Indiana, PA has expanded to include multiple Pittsburgh outposts. The center of the company is to honor everyone in the supply chain, all the way down to the patrons who sip the cup. Oh, and they have really delicious coffee too!

4. Spork

This small plates restaurant is a unique and fun way to have dinner out. Small bites include a french fry dish with dijon aioli and sriracha mayo and a “jar” of goat cheese, balsamic-eggplant and toast. Their website pays homage to us yinzers, with their cocktail menu reading “drinks n’at.” Spork is open for dinner Monday through Saturday, with late night hours on the weekends.

5. The Neighborhood & Environment Committee

This committee works to make sure Friendship’s green spaces are well maintained. Some of their recent projects include making Montessori Playpark improvements and replacing lighting at Baum Grove. They encourage those who wish to get involved to help pick up litter, adopt a garden bed at Baum Grove or join the committee themselves.
