Ah, fall. There’s nothing quite like the crisp mornings, sunny and warm afternoons and of course things like fall festivals. We put together seven great fall festivals to visit this season around Pittsburgh.

1. Soergel Orchards Fall Festival

Soergel Orchards’ fall festival takes place every weekend from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. until the end of October. Enjoy great food from Back 40 BBQ and the Food Barn, hayrides to the pumpkin patch, apple picking, kettle corn and more. Fun fact: Did you know Soergel’s began way back in 1850 when German immigrant John Conrad Soergel settled on the spot and started planting apple trees?

2. Schramm Farms Fall Festival

Throughout October, Schramm’s gets festive with a huge selection of pumpkins, play hay, corn mazes, pony rides, and much more. Refreshments include fresh cut fries (made from Schramm’s own homegrown potatoes!), Cornstalks, straw, gourds and corn will be on sale as decorations. Did you know: Schramm’s has been around since 1864!

3. Shenot Farm & Market

While Shenot Farm doesn’t have an “official” fall festival, from late September through Halloween they offer hay rides to their pumpkin patch and a super fun corn maze. Don’t forget to pick up some homemade fudge before you leave! Did you know: Shenot Farm is family run? A couple runs it along with their son.

4. Simmons Farm Fall Activities

Fall activities at Simmons Farm are open all week through Nov. 5th. Take the whole family to enjoy a straw bale lift, rubber duck races, FIVE acres of pumpkins, a hay maze, corn mazes, petting zoo, human hamster wheel, apple picking and wildflower picking. Did you know: (This one’s for you moms and dads) Simmons Farm is also home to a winery?

5. Zelienople’s Country Fall Festival

Fall brings the Zelienople community (and visitors!) together for a country fall festival. There will be costume contests, free horse drawn wagon rides, a chili cook off and more. Don’t miss the two full days of live musical entertainment either. Did you know: This fall festival has been a tradition for over 25 years!

6. Hickory Apple Festival

This family-friendly festival  raises funds for the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department. Enjoy colorful, delicious apples, apple pie (and a pie eating contest), candied apples and more. Entertainment includes craft-making, hay rides, a petting zoo and fire safety information sessions. Did you know: The Mt. Pleasant FD has a great history of the department on their website?

7. Houston Pumpkin Festival

This festival celebrates all things Pumpkin! Enjoy the community tradition since 1984 with over 175 food and craft vendors, music, entertainment, pumpkin-related contests, children’s games and more. Admission to the festival is free and proceeds from food/entertainment sales benefit the Houston Volunteer Fire Department.
