As you gather around the table this week for Thanksgiving dinner and share what you’re thankful for, chances are you’ll say things like family and friends. Of course that may be true, but every Pittsburgher has other items on their list they may not get to share. We put together some of our favorite only-in-Pittsburgh things we are thankful for… and we all know Pittsburghers are thankful!
1. Dippy eggs
Because who doesn’t love the nice runny center?
2. The HOV lane on the Parkway North
Because no one loves traffic, especially on mornings when you’re late already!
3. The Steelers and Penguins
Because there’s nothing better than being the city of champions, right?
4. Pierogies
Because there’s nothing better than those delicious potatoey pockets.
5. Bridges
Because they make our city look unlike any other.
6. Fries on salads
Because it’s fun to feel good for eating a salad but bad at the same time.
7. The view from Mt. Washington
Because there’s really nothing like it!
8. PNC Park
Because the views are unparalleled.
9. Completely random and unique places
Because Randyland anyone?
10. Prantl’s Almond Torte
Because you’re salivating just looking at that picture right? So am I.
11. Pittsburghese
Because where else can you understand something that sounds completely foreign to everyone else?
12. The Strip District
Because it’s the ultimate place where good food and friends can meet.
13. Our rankings
Because we’ve been topped lists including most livable, resilient, generous, safety and security and more.
14. Kennywood Holiday Lights
Because it’s a great way to celebrate the season.
15. Heinz Ketchup
Because no other ketchup will suffice.
16. Phipps’ Holiday Magic
Because for those who love the holiday season, there’s nothing else like it.
17. Pittsburghers
Because we are in a class all our own—a fun, exciting, generous, kind and unique class all our own.
