Pittsburgh is having a third (at least) musical explosion. Here are 3 Pittsburgh bands that have burst onto the scene:
The Common Heart

They sold out Mr. Smalls for the cd release show for their FIRST cd. They are already playing all over the country. A cast of seemingly thousands combines soul, blues, and energy. This summer they are playing with Willie Nelson, Blink-182, Van Morrison, Jack White and many others.

A self-described piano driven garage band, they have been ubiquitous on local radio. Their shows always pack the house and combine nerd sheik, hipster cool, with Pittsburgh grit.

Paul Luc

An overnight success when Rolling Stone and Paste Magazine (among others) took notice of his third record, Bad Seed. He’s been around the scene and dedicated to music since walking away from a corporate job five years ago. His summer finds him going international and all over the country before coming back to PA at the Johnstown Flood festival.

There are many more bands on the cusp of breaking out and following these guys. Stay tuned.
