July 4th is always a great time in the ‘burgh. Here are seven great ways to celebrate 4th of July in Pittsburgh this year. – UPDATED 6/27/19
1. Kennywood’s Celebrate America
Every year, Kennywood has a celebration around the 4th with live music, magicians, stilt walkers and more. The week-long festivities celebrate the red, white and blue with nightly pyrotechnic fireworks and a laser show around the lagoon.
2. Gateway Clipper Fleet 4th of July Dinner
The “4th of July” firecracker dinner includes garlic and cracked pepper rubbed stripped loin of beef, parmesan chicken breast, a garden salad, dark chocolate molten volcano cake.
3. Downtown Pittsburgh Fireworks
Head down to Point State Park for the city’s annual July 4th celebrations. Enjoy musical arts, entertainment and a 21-gun salute. See the best fireworks display in town at 9:35 p.m. sharp.
4. Heinz Field Independence Day Celebration
The 17th annual celebration presented by Miller Lite has free admission, with musical guests, summer favorites like lemonade and funnel cake and fireworks of course. North Shore parking will be open and available during this time.
5. Brentwood 4th of July Celebration
The annual Brentwood 4th of July festivities began in 1919 and started as a small parade. Now the events are a three-day party that brings in people from across the entire Western PA region. Expect to see music, treats, tug-of-war and more.
6. Zelienople July 4th Community Day
The day begins with the Firecracker 5K. Later, grab some food, soft drinks or desserts at concession stands or try the Derby Duck Race. There’s also free all-day swimming at the local pool and musical performances. Stay around for fireworks too.
7. Independence Day Celebration at Moon Park
This year’s celebration at Moon Park will feature kid-friendly fun items like food trucks, doo-wop music, and retro sounds from the band Dancing Queen. The family-friendly, free event will end with fireworks.
