Your Guide to Little Italy Days

Bloomfield’s Little Italy Days are going on now through Sunday at 6 p.m. Here’s your guide to everything at the festival, from bocce to baccala and everything in between!

Food

Keep an eye out for Tambellini’s pasta eating contest. Winner gets $100 Tambellini’s catering gift certificate. Also, there are vendors selling fresh fruit in a farmers market style. Other fresh Italian delicacies await too, like cannoli the size of your head and piping hot pizza. In previous years, sausage and pepper hoagies were spotted as were heaping mountains of fresh out of the oven garlic knots.

Music

International singer Marco Fiorante will be performing this year, as will the band Pure Gold. Expect to see both Sunday, in addition to the Steel Town Strings, an all-girl cello quartet, and Mirella the Musician, an authentic Italian accordionist. There will also be an Elvis impersonator. There are also The East End Kids, Pittsburgh’s premiere teen song and dance ensemble performing Sunday afternoon.

Entertainment

Little Italy Days is full of lots of interesting things to do. On Saturday at 3:30 p.m., check out a pizza stretching demonstration. Sunday at noon is the big Miss Little Italy pageant, with various age groups. At 11:30 a.m. there is an Italian Mass and procession at St. Maria Goretti Friendship Campus. There are also lots of opportunities to play a serious game or two of bocce.
