Things to do in Mount Washington

Pittsburgh’s many neighborhoods are full of things to do and Mount Washington doesn’t disappoint. Here are just five of the many things to do in the area.

The classic 5-star fine dining restaurant boasts gorgeous views of the entire city. Enjoy a juicy filet mignon, crab cakes and lamb just to name a few dishes. The coconut cake is divine too! For more information on the Lemont click here.

2. Hang out at Emerald View Park

Emerald View Park surrounds the neighborhoods of Duquesne Heights, Allentown and Mount Washington. The urban park is unique in that it combines pre-existing park space with formerly mined hillsides. It was part of a grassroots effort to protect Mount Washington’s steep hillsides. For more information on Emerald View Park click here.

3. Ride the inclines

The Mon and Duquesne Incline are great scenic ways to enjoy the city (and to take out-of-towners). The Mon Incline carries people back and forth between Mount Washington and Station Square and was built in 1870. The Duquesne Incline still has its original cable cars from 1877. For more information on the inclines click here and here.

4. Check out some of the best views in the city at the Grandview Overlook

Grab a waffle cone of peanut butter Moose Tracks or a twist soft serve with black and gold jimmies (not sprinkles right?). DiFiore’s also sells banana splits and heaping helpings of strawberry shortcake. For more information on DiFiore’s Ice Cream Delite click here.

Happy to see that the Lamont Restaurant is still in business. It is situated where the old movie theater operated in the 40’s. Cost a whole $.25 to see the Saturday feature.
