We were inspired by the success of previous Pittsburghese posts so we decided to create the ultimate Pittsburghese collection from A to Z. Here is part six, K and L.

1. Keeled (verb)

Killed, as in “Did you hear who got keeled last night on Game of Thrones?”

2. Ken ya? (phrase)

Can you? Used in a sentence could be, “Ken ya get me a cannoli next time your dahn the Strip?”

3. Kennywood outfits (nouns)

Matching outfits or outfits particularly chosen to visit Kennywood, an amusement park in Pittsburgh.

4. Kilbassa (noun)

Kielbasa, as in the Eastern European meat.

5. Keller (verb) color

Color, as in “Did you want to keller a picture for Mom?”

6. Liberry (place)

The library.

7. Loafin’ (verb)

Hanging out. Could be used as so: “I was loafin’ with Mary Louise all summer back when I was 16!”

8. Like ‘at! (phrase)

Like that. Used in a sentence could be “Wondering how to make good spaghetti? Well, just like ‘at!”

9. Lowrburl (place) 

Lower Burrell, an area in Westmoreland County.

10. Lay trobe (place)

Latrobe, where the Steelers hold training camp every year.
