History of Trafford
Trafford was incorporated in 1904 and was named by George Westinghouse. Westinghouse named the town after Trafford in the UK, which is near Manchester. Westinghouse bought the land two years prior, in 1902, and the Trafford Foundry began in October 1903.

As of the 2010 census, the population was 3,174 with only 61 of those living in the Allegheny County portion. The median age is 43 in the area. Around 45 percent of The average family size in this Pittsburgh Suburb is 2.82. Average income in the borough is around $32,000. The neighborhood has four borders, including North Huntingdon, North Versailles Township, Penn Township and Monroeville. Parts of the movie Kingpin were filmed in the area. Another interesting fact—Trafford City Alumni sandlot football team was the first team to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on August 28, 1940.
