7 Great Pittsburgh Snacks

Working from home a lot these days? You’ll need some snacks for those long work days. Here are seven Pittsburgh favorites.

1. Snyder’s of Hanover pretzels

Made in the great “tahn” of Hanover, Snyder’s makes the delicious pretzels we all grew up with. They’re perfect for when you’re craving that salty snack. Their website also has lots of fun recipe ideas perfect for families. For more information on Snyder’s of Hanover, click HERE.

2. Pittsburgh Popcorn Company

Pittsburgh Popcorn’s giant tubs of popcorn are a great option while you’re home Netflix and chilling. We love the buttery movie style popcorn in a three gallon Steeler tin. If you have a sweet tooth, the peanut butter and chocolate kettle are always a good idea. For more information on the Pittsburgh Popcorn Company, click HERE.

3. Sarris Candies’ chocolate covered pretzels

Whether you get them for Easter, a fundraiser or make a pit stop dahn Canonsburg to their ice cream parlor, there’s nothing better than snacking on these sweet treats. Sometimes it’s hard to eat just one! For more information on Sarris Candies, click HERE.

4. Mrs. T’s mini pierogies

While we wait patiently for the pierogi races at PNC Park every summer, snacking on Mrs. T’s mini pierogies (but only minis—wouldn’t want to spoil yinz dinner!) are a great option. The cheddar seasoned with bacon are especially delicious. For more information on Mrs. T’s, click HERE.

5. Klondike bars

“What would you do for a Klondike bar?” as the old jingle used to say. Well, for us Pittsburghers the answer to that is a lot! We love the ice cream bars with a rich history in Pittsburgh. In fact, one of the earliest references to Klondike bars was back in 1922 in an article in the Youngstown Vindicator. Back then, Isaly’s Dairy was making six flavors of Klondikes for just 10 cents each. For more information on Klondike Bars, click HERE.

6. Fried zucchini sticks

Often seen on many Pittsburgh menus, fried zucchini is a quintessential appetizer while eating out in the area. It’s also a perfect snack dipped in marinara sauce. We’re daydreaming about it already…

7. Clark bars

Clark Bars made their grand return on Valentine’s Day 2020. The bars have such high popularity in the ‘burgh that a Pittsburgh Post Gazette writer wrote Katie’s Kandy in Fifth Ave. Place bought five cases of Clark Bars on Valentine’s Day. By midday three days later, there were only two bars left. For more information on Clark Bars, click HERE.

  1. Mrs T’s perogies are OK but my grandm0ther’s Home made ones were Better. I never got the recipe and she died in 1976 in Pittsburgh.

  2. I used to live down the road from the Clarke candy factory. Everything smelled like chocolate. Thanks for the memories, we loved Islalys. Your little inserts of Pittsburgh language idioms didn’t quite work but nice try. By the way, I don’t know where yinz came from but we said yunz.

  3. My mother worked at Clark’s Candy Company and my dad worked at Heinz when they were first married. She’ll be thrilled to know the Clarks Bar is now available!

  4. Wait—what happened to Grandma Utz potato chips? They are right behind Snyder’s in my house. And Jessica is right–it was always yunz not yinz.
