Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar

Lincoln–Lemington–Belmar is located on the northeastern side of the City of Pittsburgh.  Originally 2 separate neighborhoods, when the city combined them, it allowed for 3 names to be kept…  Lincoln and Lemington, the streets that run through this Pittsburgh Neighborhood, and Belmar, from the old Belmar Racetrack, no longer there.

The neighborhood is bordered by Homewood on the south, Larimer and Highland Park to the west and Penn Hills, a suburb, to the East.  The Belmar part of this neighborhood, one of the steepest in Pittsburgh, was on top of the hill on Tilden Street and overlooked the City.  It is one of the only neighborhoods to span a river… reaching north into a small section across the Allegheny River.

The area is also home to the VA Center of Southwestern Pennsylvania as well as the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center.  The area spanning the Allegheny includes the Waterworks Mall and UPMC St. Margaret.

The Brilliant Cutoff Viaduct, part of the Pennsylvania Railroad, is located along Washington Boulevard.  Built in 1902, it was added to the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation list of Historic Landmarks in 2003.
