Bradford Woods

Bradford Woods is a borough in Allegheny County and considered part of the greater Pittsburgh Metro area. The community was originally a summer getaway that was incorporated as a borough on May 3, 1915. An interurban railway called the Harmony Line ran through Bradford Woods, where Forest Road lies today. It was a direct route to Pittsburgh. A home rule government was created in 1974.

The local government in the neighborhood is housed in offices called Fithian Hall, the local fire hall. The fire hall is utilized for many different events including a couple’s club, meetings, Bingo nights and a spaghetti dinner that happens every year. Singer Christina Aguilera grew up in the community from her childhood until around the time she started to record her debut album. In a 2002 episode of the show MTV Diary Aguilera returns to her former home and the current owners allowed her to tour her old home. Former Pittsburgh Steeler Chris Hoke lives in Bradfod Woods. Bradford Woods has only two borders—Marshall Township and Pine Township. The community is part of the North Allegheny School District. As of the latest census, there were approximately 1,100 people living in the community.
