Mount Washington is a vibrant and fun place to live. There’s also plenty to do, including taking in the gorgeous views of the city, playing in Emerald View Park, having a delicious meal at the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto or grabbing flowers at Eiseltown Flowers & Gifts.
1. Take in the gorgeous views
Mount Washington’s nighttime view was named the number 2 best view by USA Today. No matter how many times you’ve seen it, there’s nothing better than taking in the beautiful cityscape on a lovely afternoon of sunshine (or clear night!).
2. Enjoy the green space of Emerald View Park
Emerald View Park surrounds the neighborhoods of Allentown and Duquesne Heights in addition to Mount Washington. The park came to fruition following a 2005 grassroots effort from the communities. The park is hundreds of acres and is open every day until 11 p.m. For more information on Emerald View Park click here.
3. Have a delicious meal at the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto
For an incredible meal, visit the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto for spectacular views of the river and lots of yummy seafood. There’s classic surf and turf, scallop cacio e pepe, crab cakes and more. For the cocktail menu, Pennsylvania-made spirits are used as much as possible. For more information on the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto click here.
4. Take home a bouquet of flowers at Eiseltown Flowers & Gifts
The family-owned and operated Eiseltown Flowers & Gifts offers amazing floral arrangements and gifts combined with friendly and easy service. They have flowers for every occasion, even just “to make someone smile!” For more information on Eiseltown Flowers & Gifts click here.
5. Have a drink at The Summit
The Summit serves up tasty craft cocktails with fresh ingredients, homemade mixers and premium liquor. In the summer, the restaurant opens up for some front patio dining. As far as bites, think avocado deviled eggs, house cut fries, burgers and smoked gouda mac and cheese. For more information on the Summit click here.
