Winter in the Pittsburgh region can make many people want to stay indoors; however, there are many great activities and events right here at the Allegheny County Parks that you don’t want to miss this winter.

Skiing at Boyce Park

Winter fun doesn’t have to be an hour away! Only a 15-minute drive from downtown Pittsburgh, Boyce Park is the coolest place to be this winter. Boyce Park offers skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing for anyone looking to refine their skills or learn the basics. The lifts will be opening mid-December (weather and conditions permitting).

This year, you can try snowshoeing at all nine county parks: Boyce, Deer Lakes, Harrison Hills, Hartwood Acres, North, Round Hill, Settlers Cabin, South, and White Oak. There are only 10 spots per hike. Sign up today to reserve your spot!

Holiday Activities with Santa

Santa is coming to town with two fun events! At Boyce Park and Round Hill, enjoy cookies, crafts, and telling Santa what’s on your wish list at Cookies with Santa. This event is free and open to the public. At North and South parks, grab a pair of skates and join Saint Nick on the ice! Regular rink admission fees apply. Ice Skating at North and South Parks

Downtown isn’t the only place to skate outdoors. At both North and South parks, enjoy the fresh air while you slide and glide across the ice. Adults can skate for only $5 (non-residents $6) while children and seniors are only $3 (non-residents $4). Or, bring the whole family to the rink on Wednesday nights for Winter Fun Wednesdays, where a family of 6 can skate for only $10 ($13 non-resident).
