As part of DOORS OPEN Pittsburgh, an annual two-day event that provides unprecedented access to buildings around the city, we are featuring nine of the many buildings participating.

Today’s building is the Comedy Arcade Theater.

A Brief History of Comedy Arcade

The Comedy Arcade Theater was founded in February 2013 and is dedicated to making the Pittsburgh community better through comedy. The building was a storefront converted to a 75-seat theater, making for an intimate environment. The arcade features approximately six shows every weekend, as well as comedy classes, family shows and more. The theater is BYOB and has free video games in the lobby. The arcade is the only non-profit theater in Pittsburgh dedicated to comedy.

For over four and a half years, the Arcade presented over 1,000 shows and had over 50,000 visitors. In November 2017, the arcade moved to a vacant building in the 900 block of the Cultural District. The move was a major upgrade, with two stages, a lounge, classroom space and room to continue to grow.
