Since its expansion in 2015, the rink now measures 116 feet long and 116 feet wide, making it 67% larger than the famous rink at Rockefeller Center, and just slightly smaller than a National Hockey League rink.

Operating Hours and Dates

The Ice Rink operates daily from late November until the end of February, remaining open on major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In 2021, the rink extended its hours of operation until the middle of March.

Accessibility and Parking

Conveniently located a few steps from the Gateway stop on Pittsburgh’s light rail system, the rink is easily accessible. For those traveling by car, paid parking is available in the PPG Place Parking Garage, which has a public entrance on Third Avenue.

Dining Options

If skating works up your appetite, PPG Place houses several dining options. For a quick bite, you can grab a burger at Five Guy’s, or if you prefer a more formal dining experience, Ruth’s Chris Steak House is also located in PPG Place.

Ticket Prices and Discounts

Standard admission to the rink is $11, with an additional $5 fee for skate rental. However, the rink offers discounts for children up to age 12, adults over 50, and military members. Special weekly events like Tuesday Family Nights and Wednesday Student Nights offer additional savings.

Special Events

Each year, leading up to the holidays, the Rink at PPG Place hosts a series of special events to spread Christmas cheer in the Pittsburgh community. These include Light Up Night in Pittsburgh, Mascot Skate, and Skate with Santa Saturdays.
