The Pittsburgh Relative You’ll See Every Holiday Season

The holidays are filled with good cheer, tidings and blah blah blah… oh yeah…  Here comes Uncle Donny… or Aunt Peg… or… whoever.  Every year, you get a chance to reconnect with the Pittsburgh relative who reminds you most that you’re from… Pittsburgh.   Here’s just 7 of the Pittsburgh relatives who’ve made our yinzer lives entertaining!

1. The Pittsburgh Uncle

May be dressed in:

Pittsburgh Penguins shirt circa 1997, jeans, Iron City in hand

What they’re doing during the holidays:

Out back with your dad trying to grill the Thanksgiving turkey in a snowstorm.

2. The Pittsburgh Aunt

May be dressed in:

Black pants, sparkly red top with an outline of a Christmas present in sequins on it

What they’re doing during the holidays:

Gossiping with your mom in the kitchen as they prepare the Feast of Seven Fishes Christmas dinner.

3. The Pittsburgh Kid Cousin

May be dressed in:

JuJu Smith-Schuster Steelers jersey, Adidas track pants

What they’re doing during the holidays:

Playing Fortnite in the basement with all of your other cousins.

4. The Pittsburgh Grandma

May be dressed in:

Extra soft cardigan, khakis

What they’re doing during the holidays:

Setting up the 12 dozen cookie trays she baked all season long.  Ok, we’re exaggerating.  It’s 27 cookie trays.  With extra cookies she brought home in a box from that wedding last week.

5. The Pittsburgh Grandpa

May be dressed in:

Flannel button-down, khakis, thick glasses

What they’re doing during the holidays:

In a recliner with his oversized Steeler throw blanket watching the game… um… sleeping.  Um… watching the game. Um… snoring.

6. The Pittsburgh Sibling

May be dressed in:

Jeans, sneakers, Pitt sweatshirt

What they may be found doing during the holidays:

Talking college football with your cousin who goes to Penn State or arguing about why the Patriots are still not the best franchise in NFL history.  Because the Steelers are.  For sure.  No Doubt.

7. The Pittsburgh Brother-in-Law

May be dressed in:

A brand-new Steeler sweatshirt, as he grew up in Ohio and was a Browns fan but was only welcomed into the family after switching his allegiance… or just pretending by wearing this shirt.  Anyway… it’s not a Browns jersey.

What they may be found doing during the holidays:

Out back with your dad and uncle, a seasonal craft beer in hand offering advice on grilling the turkey.
