As a 10-year vet of being a therapy dog, Leo has been helping children get better.  Now it’s time to help Leo.  Out of hundreds of dogs nominated, Leo was chosen as a finalist in the Therapy Dog category for the American Humane Hero Dog Awards

So who is Leo and what are the American Humane Hero Dog Awards?

Leo is a therapy dog who works with children at the Children’s Institute in Squirrel Hill.   He originally worked with children who had Prader-Willi Symptom.  He also works with children who have Autism and are blind.

Some notable accomplishments in Leo’s career include helping a little girl speak for the first time in months and being chosen to accompany a blind student to therapy appointments.

Leo has also caught the eye of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, who featured him in this article.

The Hero Dog Awards are a huge deal in the animal community, nationwide.  Finalists are flown to Beverly Hills to walk the red carpet to a program broadcast on The Hallmark Channel.  Previous hosts include Beth Stern, Daisy Fuentes, and Richard Marx.

Leo and his therapy visit partner Linda have spent the last ten years helping others.  Please consider taking a minute to help them in their quest to make the cut to be flown to Beverly Hills.  Let’s help Leo get to Hollywood!
