1. ‘Quippa (place)

Pittsburghese

Aliquippa, a neighborhood in the area.

2. Ruff (noun) 

Pittsburghese

Roof. Used in a sentence could be “I need to go put holiday lights on the ruff.”

3. Raht (noun) 

Pittsburghese

Route, as in “Raht 28 is backed up again!”

4. Rilly (question)

Pittsburghese

Really, as in “Really? You’re going to eat all that?”

5. Rocky Blahr (person)

Pittsburghese

Rocky Bleier, the former Pittsburgh Steeler

6. Redd up (phrase)

Pittsburghese

To clean up.

7. Rode (verb) 

Pittsburghese

To take someone in your car. Used in a sentence could be “Tim rode me dahn school today.”

8. Riggie and piggy (noun)

Pittsburghese

Rigatoni and sausages, often fire hall wedding fare.

9. Ruller (noun) 

Pittsburghese

A ruler, as in “I need a ruller to measure this picture frame.”

10. Rolly coaster (noun)

Pittsburghese

Roller coaster—as in, “What’s your favorite rolly coaster at Kennywood?”
