Special Exhibitions
This fall, The Frick Pittsburgh is all set to enthrall its visitors with three special exhibitions that explore themes of kinship and community. One of the highlights includes the “Vermeer, Monet, Rembrandt” exhibition, debuting in April 2024. This exhibition will showcase masterpieces from renowned artists like Titian, Rembrandt, Monet, Degas, Whistler, El Greco, Ingres, and Vermeer.
Scenic Gardens & Greenhouse
Stroll through the Frick’s lush 10-acre site, lined with an array of trees and vibrant gardens. The active greenhouse is a restoration of the original that served the Frick family from 1897 through the 1970s.
Celebrate the holiday season at Clayton, the beautifully decorated 19th-century Victorian home of the Frick family, offering a cheerful atmosphere that exudes the spirit of festive celebrations.

The Frick Art Museum
The Frick Art Museum houses an impressive collection of fine and decorative art. It includes a wide array of works on paper by Jean-François Millet, Renaissance and Baroque bronzes, and nineteenth-century European paintings. The museum also boasts Late Medieval and Renaissance paintings of a devotional nature and Renaissance and Baroque paintings with secular themes.
The Car and Carriage Museum
Car enthusiasts would be thrilled with the Car and Carriage Museum’s collection, which includes vintage cars such as the 1881 Brougham, 1898 Panhard et Levassor Tonneau, 1903 Baker Electric, and the 1914 Ford Model T Touring Car, among others.
The Café at the Frick
Indulge in delicious culinary delights at The Café at The Frick. The café serves a variety of dishes, including holiday favorites, that perfectly complement the winter weather.
Admission and Group Size
The admission for adults is $12, while for children and seniors, it is $10. The Frick Pittsburgh can accommodate a group size of 11 to 100.
The Frick Pittsburgh: A Brief History
The Frick Pittsburgh’s journey began with an eleven-room, Italianate-style house purchased by the Fricks shortly after their marriage in 1881. Named “Clayton” after modifications, the house underwent further remodeling in 1892 and once again in 1897 when the playhouse was added. The Fricks’ primary residence until 1905, it opened to the public in 1990.
The Frick family moved to New York City in 1905, where they established the Frick Collection. However, in 1981, Helen Clay Frick returned to Clayton, where she lived until her death in 1984. She was instrumental in preserving the Frick estate and allowing it to open to the public.
