Not everyone has a sweet tooth… but just about everyone loves some sort of candy. And… there aren’t many who can resist the allure of a good candy store. Even if you don’t have that sweet tooth… it’s just too much fun to pass up a moment or a memory of childhood. While there are many candy stores in Pittsburgh, there are a few that seem to take us back to those special penny candy days of old. Here are 7 of the best candy stores in Pittsburgh we could find!
1. Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop
If you want some serious nostalgia, visit Grandpa Joe’s in the Strip District. They are home to all your favorite candy you ate as a youth—Good N’ Plenty, Razzles, Clark Bars and more. They are also home to a $5 candy buffet perfect for those on a budget. Grandpa Joe’s is the quintessential old time candy shop in Pittsburgh. For more information on Grandpa Joe’s, click here.
2. S&S Candy & Cigar Co.
Having been in the area since 1965, S&S sells the candy cigars you pretended to smoke as a youth (and would probably never be allowed nowadays!). They have two locations, one in South Side and one in Brentwood. They also a wide range of candy in bulk for wholesale prices. Another classic candy store in Pittsburgh! 5. Yetter’s Candy
Using the same recipe since 1950, Yetter’s serves up a variety of delicious chocolates. Their best-sellers are chocolate covered cherries and chocolate covered nut clusters. They also have an old-time soda fountain! For more information on Yetter’s, click here.
6. Sarris Candies
Sarris Candies was founded back in 1960. They have since been Pittsburgh’s favorite Easter and Christmas candies. Even Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara gave a shoutout to their chocolate-covered pretzels. For more information on Sarris, click here.
7. Eureka Chocolates and Gifts
Eureka is the place to go if you’re looking for a gourmet gift. Their artisan chocolates include a dozen different truffle flavors (think ones like tiramisu, raspberry and milk chocolate caramel). For more information on Eureka, click here.
The Chocolate Moose in Squirrel Hill on Forbes Ave is excellent.
You missed an excellent candy shop in Heidelberg, “My Favorite Sweet Shoppe”
Rosalind Candy in New Brighton.
Sarris is highly overrated. Gene n Boots in Perryopolis is much better. I also recommend Betsy Ann in West View, B&E in Harrison City (Westmoreland county), and Pollaks in Etna.
